Abstract

The present master thesis deals with teaching-students reflecting on their teaching experience in an out-of-school learning facility, namely a teaching-and-learning laboratory. In this explorative/qualitative study the reflective presentations of minor study groups of the University of Oldenburg were analyzed. The aim of the project was to evaluate characteristic approaches regarding reflection and investigate if certain types of reflection can be deduced. Three types of reflection could be examined in this study: A descriptive type (type I), an explaining type (type II) and a developing type (type III). Moreover, it was observed that the majority of the students do not reflect on a productive level. However, the students are able to reproduce the situation in a descriptive manner and identify problematic situations, nevertheless, the students enlarge upon their reflection rarely. Characteristically for the “Lern-Lern-Labor Wattenmeer” it was assessed, that comparisons between class-situations are performed, which indicate a strong diagnostic character.
