Abstract

Intervention study on the accuracy of observation assessments of pre-school teachers : empirical study of diagnostic competence facets by video vignette test

["eprint_fieldname_abstract_plus" not defined]

Observation and documentation of the steps of development of every child is part of nearly every formal curriculum in Germany and Switzerland. This quasi-experimental study asks whether dispositional characteristics and developed additional video material affect the objectivity of the observational assessments of pre-school practitioners. In addition, using a pre-/posttest-design with a non-equivalent control group (N = 94). The results show that few accurate observational assessments are made by trainee pre-school practitioners. The primary outcome of the study is that it illustrates the professional self-concept regarding diagnostic expertise and intervention predicting the variance of the accuracy of observational assessments are provided. But the prediction of the intervention is on the other way, how it should be. The results give fresh impetus for training on observation and recording of observations to provided for pre-school practitioners diagnostic.
