Abstract

Metallocenes are extremely important in wide areas of organic metal chemistry. Further studies have contributed to the development of the syndiotactic polymerisation of styrol by using these homogeneous Ziegler-Natta catalysts. Within the context of this research, new catalysts have been developed for the extraction of syndiotactic styrol. Additionally, particular attention was paid to space filling ligands of the cyclopentadienyl class as well as cyclopentadienyl-free complexes. As an alternative to cyclopentadienyl, bulky alkylamides have been considered which are well-known for their steric and electronic qualities and for being comparable with metallocenderivates. In a further section, the function of octahydrofluorenyltitan complexes are discussed and their changes in catalytic behavior examined. Within the scope of this thesis numerous of new bulky alkyltitanamides have been manufactured and extensively characterized. All titanium complexes tested were found to be suitable for the syndiotactic polymerisation of styrol.
