Abstract

Seit 2008 wurden auf den Ostfriesischen Inseln (Niedersachsen) 265 Großschmetterlingsarten nachgewiesen, unter denen sich 33 Erstnachweise befanden. Der Literaturvergleich zeigt, dass aktuell insgesamt 407 nachgewiesene Arten als indigen für die Inseln eingestuft werden. Trotzdem ist das Wissen um die Vorkommen und Verbreitung von Schmetterlingen auf den Ostfriesischen Inseln noch veraltet und unvollständig. Dies wird zum Beispiel durch den Fund von 155 Erstnachweisen auf Spiekeroog und den Wiederfund von Pyrgus malvae und Whittleia retiella auf Borkum verdeutlicht.

Since 2008, 265 species of Macrolepidoptera (including Hepialoidea, Psychidae, Zygaenoidea, Sesioidea, and Cossoidea) were recorded on the East Frisian Islands (Lower Saxony) of which 33 species were first records. A comparison with the literature shows that actually 407 recorded species are estimated to be indigenous on the islands. However, the knowledge of the occurrence and geographical distribution of Lepidoptera on the East Frisian Islands is mostly obsolete and incomplete. This is shown, for example, by 155 new species recorded for the island Spiekeroog and by the recovery of Pyrgus malvae and Whittleia retiella on Borkum.
