Abstract

The Gellener Torfmöörte north east of Oldenburg (Lower Saxony) belongs to an important nature reserve in the Nature 2000 programme of the EU. Aim of the present investigation was the complete listing of the vegetation and compiling a map of the biotope types. A comparison of the vegetation development from 1957 to 2004 showed an accelerated succession resulting in an increase of shrubs and wood ecosystems caused by anthropogenic influence. On the basis of the present investigation a prognosis of the vegetation development in the next 25 years was derived.
