Abstract

Development of a physical model for calculation of the turbulence inside wind farms

["eprint_fieldname_abstract_plus" not defined]

For a better utilization of the landscape, wind turbines are often grouped in wind parks. Beneath the shading effects of the wind turbines, which reduces the park efficiency, an increase in turbulence takes place due to the wakes of the wind turbines. In the scope of this dissertation two new approaches for describing the turbulence intensity in the wake of a wind turbine were developed. First the wake of a single wind turbines was analyzed using power spectra and incremental analyses of the wind measurements. Additionally the influence of the used measurement methods on the turbulence intensity profiles in the wake was evaluated. The development of the turbulence intensity profiles with increasing distance behind the wind turbine was analyzed and used to develop two new model approaches. These approaches were validated with the wakes of several wind turbines and with a complete wind farm.
