Abstract

Die Dissertation untersucht die Bedeutung von Bildung für nachhaltige Entwicklung (BNE) in Forschung zu nachhaltiger Entwicklung. Durch eine qualitative Analyse von Dokumenten der Forschungsförderung und Expert*inneninterviews in der Forschungspraxis werden die komplexen Zusammenhänge zwischen BNE und Forschung zu nachhaltiger Entwicklung rekonstruiert sowie die beiden Bereiche durch die Entwicklung einer gegenstandsverankerten Grounded Theory systematisch miteinander verknüpft. Im Ergebnis lassen sich vor dem Hintergrund einer Transformativen Wissenschaft Synergieeffekte zwischen Bildung und Forschung für eine nachhaltige Entwicklung durch die integrierte Theorie zu „Partizipativen Lernprozessen“ aufzeigen und die Verankerung von BNE in Forschung zu nachhaltiger Entwicklung fördern.

The relevance of education for sustainable development in research on sustainable development: a diamond that needs to be polished

The dissertation examines the relevance of education for sustainable development (ESD) in research on sustainable development. Through a qualitative analysis of research funding documents and expert interviews in research practice, the complex connections between ESD and research on sustainable development are reconstructed and the two areas are systematically linked through the development of an object-anchored grounded theory. As a result, against the background of transformative science, synergy effects between education and research for sustainable development can be demonstrated through the integrated theory of “participatory learning processes” and the anchoring of ESD in research on sustainable development can be promoted.
