Abstract

Die Universität Oldenburg betreibt gemeinsam mit der Fachhochschule Oldenburg, Ostfriesland, Wilhelmshaven – Standort Emden – den internationalen Studiengang Engineeering Physics seit 1998 als Bachelor-Master-Studienprogramm. Es werden die fünf Schwerpunkte „Biomedical Physics“, „Sound and Vibration“, „Laser and Optics“, „Material Sciences“ und „Renewable Energy“ angeboten. Das Programm wurde erstmals 2002 akkreditiert, 2008 erfolgreich re-akkreditiert und mit dem EUR-ACE Label versehen. Inzwischen liegen interessante Erfahrungen über den Studienerfolg und über den Verbleib der Absolventinnen und Absolventen vor. Leider konnten grundsätzliche Wahlmöglichkeiten des Bachelor-Master-Konzepts aufgrund rigider Vorgaben auf Hochschulebene nicht effektiv genutzt werden. Es wird über positive und negative Erfahrungen mit dem modularisierten Ausbildungsprogramm berichtet.

Oldenburg University and the University of Applied Science Emden offer the international study programme Engineering Physics since 1998. Five subjects of specialisation are offered: Biomedical Physics“, „Sound and Vibration“, „Laser and Optics“, „Material Sciences“ and „Renewable Energy. The programme was first accredited in 2002 and successfully re-accredited in 2008 including the EUR-ACE label. In the meantime, some interesting experience was gained about the students (where they come from) and the graduates (where they go). The new concept of bachelor-master-education (in Germany) offers in principle multifarious choice of subjects in a study programme. But rigid restrictions of the university prevent an effective education. Positive and negative experience with the present new study concept is reported.
