Abstract

This dissertation measured the impact of the integration into the information society on the value system, namely (corporate) social orientation and ethical sensitivity in social questions of the information society. The study was carried out using questionnaires. (Corporate) social orientation is an established construct in empirical social research; the other construct was developed in the course of this dissertation. As social questions of the information society, anonymity, privacy, intellectual property, globalization, content and access (to the internet) were identified. The evaluation of the 130 valid answers revealed a negative correlation between the active participation in the formation of the information society and both social orientation and ethical sensitivity in social questions of the information society. The correlation was not statistically significant, however. No correlation could be found between the degree to which respondents were (passively) affected by the information society and their social orientation resp. their ethical sensitivity in social questions of the information society.
