Abstract

On the Chaerophylletum bulbosi R. Tx. 1937 of the northwest german riveraine landscape of Weser and Elbe. – As is evident from largely corresponding informations from phytosociological literature, the association Chaerophylletum bulbosi R. Tx. 1937 in northern Germany has its main area in the valleys of the rivers Weser, Werra and Leine. Further in the south it is found along the rivers Main, Donau and Saale. In the study presented here, it is demonstrated that it is occurs at many locations on both sides of the middle and lower courses of the rivers Weser and Elbe in well developed stands. As known from other regions it is associated with hard wood riveraine forests and the upper zone of soft wood riveraine forests adjacent to them. – The floristic composition (mean species number = 22) largely corresponds to what is already known from other regions and confirms the syntaxonomical assignment on the level of alliances, orders and classes (Aegopodion podagrariae, Lamio-Chenopodietalia boni-henrici, Galio-Urticetea). In contrast to the syntaxonomical assignment, the subdivision of the association elaborated for the investigation area distinctly differs from that described for other regions. On the level of subassociations, a Chaerophylletum bulbosi phalaridetosum with Phalaris arundinacea, Calystegia sepium, Phragmites australis and Symphytum officinale as differential species is distinguished from a Chaerophylletum bulbosi typicum. An extensive comparison revealed that the elaborated subdivision, which demonstrates the floristic and spatial vicinity of the Chaerophylletum bulbosi to the Convuolvuletalia sepium, is obviously valid supraregionally as well.
