Abstract

1998 wurde ein Vorkommen des waldbewohnenden Laufkäfers Carabus glabratus auf bewaldeten Geestinseln im Großen Moor bei Uchte/Darlaten (Niedersachsen) entdeckt. Die Art ist im nordwestdeutschen Tiefland selten und inselhaft verbreitet, da sie auf historisch alteWälder beschränkt bleibt. C. glabratus besitzt ein geringes Ausbreitungspotential und meidet unbewaldete Flächen. Bemerkenswert erscheint daher die Besiedlung der durch ausgedehnte Hochmoorflächen natürlicherweise isolierten Geestinseln. Offensichtlich ist diese Population bereits seit sehr langer Zeit isoliert, doch muss auch die Möglichkeit einer Verschleppung in jüngster Zeit in Erwägung gezogen werden.

A record of Carabus glabratus PAYKULL, 1790 in the „Großes Moor“ near Uchte (Germany, Lower Saxony) – In 1998 a population of the woodland inhabiting ground beetle Carabus glabratus was found in wooded mounds in the „Großes Moor“ near Uchte/Darlaten. In the lowlands of northwest Germany this species is rare and only patch-like distributed, because it is restricted to ancient woodlands. C. glabratus has a low power of dispersal and avoids open country. In this context it is noticeable that C. glabratus was able to colonize the wooded mounds, although they are naturally isolated by peat bog. There is reason to suppose that the population was isolated for a long time, but there is also the possibility of deportation within the past decades.
