Abstract

Bees and wasps along the river Hunte southeast of oldenburg i. o. (Hymenoptera aculeata). – From May 2008 to May 2009 the occurrence of Hymenoptera aculeata (sphecid, pompilid, eumenid, chrysidid, mutillid, social wasps and bees) was analysed at three different locations along the Hunte. a total of 139 species was found, including 56 solitary bee species, 10 of them oligolectic, and 43 sphecid wasp species. This equates to about one fifth of the recorded species in Lower saxony. 90% of the solitary bee species and ~ 70% of the sphecid wasp species build their nests in the soil (cuckoo species not included). among the solitary bees about one third of the species are cuckoo species. some species rare in Northwest Germany, like Mimumesa beaumonti, Lasioglossum parvulum and Lasioglossum sexnotatum were captured. Lasioglossum sexnotatum, which is threatened to become extinct in Northwest Germany but found at each of the three investigated locations, suggests the importance of this habitat.
