Abstract

Berufe in Naturwissenschaften und Technik haben für die Wirtschaftskraft Deutschlands eine hohe Bedeutung. Dennoch weisen naturwissenschaftliche und technische Berufe eine rückläufige Attraktivität auf (Renn et al., 2009). Diese resultiert auch aus den Vorstellungen über die den Berufen zugrunde liegenden Tätigkeiten. Studien zufolge verfügen Schüler im Bereich der naturwissenschaftlichen Berufe häufig über unklare und stereotyp geprägte Vorstellungen (Elster, 2009; Taskinen et al. 2008). Bislang liegen jedoch noch keine Studien vor, die Aufschlüsse darüber geben, welche genauen beruflichen Tätigkeiten die Schüler in den verschiedenen naturwissenschaftlichen und technischen Berufen erwarten. Ziel dieser Arbeit ist daher die Erhebung von Schülervorstellungen als Basis für berufsorientierende Maßnahmen im Unterricht und die Entwicklung von Maßnahmen zur Integration des Themas in den Chemieunterricht und in die Lehrerausbildung.

Occupational orientation in chemical classroom : analysis of students’ conceptions to selected occupations and development of concepts for integration in chemical classroom and teacher education

Occupations in science and technology are important for the economic power of Germany. Yet, scientific and technical occupations show a declining attractiveness (Renn et al., 2009). This also results from conceptions on attached activities in this specific occupational field. According to studies students often possess unclear and stereotyped images in the area of scientific occupations (Elster, 2009; Taskinen et al., 2008). Nevertheless, up to now there are no studies which give an insight into students’ concepts on certain scientific and technical occupations and more precisely the attached activities to them. The aim of this work is the analysis of students’ conceptions. These will serve as a basis for the development of an in-class training concept to support students in their occupational choices. The development also includes to find ways for integrating this matter in chemical classroom and teacher education.
