Abstract

In der Arbeit wird ein konstruktivistisches und handlungstheoretisches Modell des religiösen Selbstkonzeptes (RSK) entwickelt und es werden Überlegungen zu Entstehung und Veränderung RSK im Kontext religiöser Sozialisation und innerer und äußerer religiöser Veränderung angestellt. RSK von Einsteigern in Neureligiöse Bewegungen (NRB) werden mit RSK engagierter Volkskirchenglieder (VK) und in NRB sozialisierten Personen hinsichtlich Inhalten religiöser Konstrukte, Konstruktion der Beziehung zu Sozialisationspersonen und Veränderungen des religiösen Selbst verglichen. Erhebungsmethode ist eine Form der Repertory Grid Technik (Religiöses-Selbstkonzept Grid). Für die Inhalte von RSK wird induktiv ein Kategoriensystem entwickelt und auf Inter-Rater Reliabilität getestet. Erwartungswidrig zeigen die Ergebnisse u.a. weitgehende Unabhängigkeit der Konstruktion der Beziehung zu Sozialisationspersonen und religiöser Selbstveränderungen vom Wechsel der Religionsgemeinschaft sowie nur geringe inhaltliche Spezifika. Unterschiede ergeben sich in Abhängigkeit von der Sozialisation und dauerhaften Zugehörigkeit zu einer VK vs. NRB.

In this research a constructivist and action-theoretical model of religious self-concept (RSC) is developed. Development and change of RSC are reflected in the light of theories on religious socialisation and inner and outward religious change. RSC of new members of New Religious Movements (NRM) are compared to RSC of people committed to the two main churches in Germany and of people socialised in NRM. Criteria for comparison are contents of religious constructs, construction of the relationships towards socialising persons and of changes of religious self. Data collection is done by a type of Repertory Grid Technique (Religious Self-concept Grid). To investigate contents of RSC, a system of categories is developed inductively and tested for inter-rater reliability. Contrary to the hypotheses, findings reveal the construction of the relationship towards socialising people as well as the construction of religious self-change to be largely independent from change of religious group membership. Also, only few specific contents are found. There are differences, however, depending on the socialisation and ongoing membership in the main churches vs. NRM.
